CPD Officer Resigns

The Columbus Board of Public Works and Safety convened in an executive session Wednesday to consider the request made by Columbus Police Chief Jim Worton. Worton, and the CPD Administrative Board asked for the termination of Officer Matthew Stephenson for alleged misconduct in a February 2 incident at the Bartholomew County Jail. The incident, involving the discovery of narcotics inside the jail, has already resulted in the firings of two jail officers. Before the Board of Works and Safety could act, Officer Stephenson submitted his resignation, which was accepted by the Board.
