Jail Fight Leads to Felony Charges for North Vernon Man

A North Vernon man already behind bars is facing the possibility of another 26 years in prison for his part in a Sunday evening fight at the Jennings County Jail. Indiana State Police say that 31 year-old Aaron Meeks severely injured 49 year-old North Vernon resident Ronald Dawson. During the altercation Meek allegedly had Dawson in a choke hold for an extended period of time, causing Dawson to lose consciousness.

On Tuesday, Jennings County Prosecutor Alan Marshall charged Meeks with three felony counts. They include a Class "B" Felony of Aggravated Battery, and two Class "D" Counts Criminal Recklessness Resulting in Bodily Injury and Strangulation. The warrant was served Tuesday by Indiana State Police.
