Attendance for this year's Brickyard 400 was down quite a bit over the weekend. Some fans said it appeared the grandstands were only about half-full, continuing a trend NASCAR has noticed across the country. Sell-outs, once nearly guaranteed for races, are becoming rare due to the ongoing recession.
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway cut some prices trying to boost attendance, offering 40-dollar general admission seats and letting children in for free.
