State officials say they're ready to handle an expected swell in jobless claims next week.  Marc Lotter of the Department of Workforce Development said the system is ready to go.

"Folks will go online beginning Tuesday August third," said Lotter,"Fill out the vouchers for each week they are eligible to receive and then, within forty-eight hours, each eligible voucher will have the benefit posted to the debit card."

Roughly 80-thousand Hoosiers are eligible to apply for extended federal jobless benefits now that the payments have been restored by Congress and President Obama after they ran out in early June.

Lotter advises those collecting unemployment to log on to the state's website to be sure they have all the information needed.
