Abundance of Rain Makes Excess Humidity

It‘s the humidity --not the heat -- that is making this summer feel a little more unbearable in Indiana. The National Weather Service in Indianapolis says the heavy amounts of rainfall in June and July have made the ground more moist, pushing the humidity in the atmosphere higher than typical for this time of year.

National Weather Service Chief Meteorologist Dave Tucek says the overnight lows have been warmer than what they normally are for mid-summer. That means the temperatures are more likely to peak into the 90‘s. Temperature-wise, Tucek calls this July "pretty usual." He notes last July was cool by comparison.
