Zumhingst Joins Visitor Center BoardThe Jackson County Visitor Center Board of Directors has a new member. Jane Hays, with the visitor center, says Kendra Zumhingst, of Seymour, began her term with the board in January and said her interest in being a board member revolves around people and ideas. "I am always interested in bringing new ideas to the community that would bring new people and revenue to the area," Zumhingst said. Zumhingst is a Seymour native and graduated from Seymour High School. She received a Bachelors of Science degree from Indiana University and a Master of Science degree in Management from Indiana Wesleyan. She is employed as an IT specialist with Kremers Urban Pharmaceuticals Inc., in Seymour, where she has worked for 13 years. Zumhingst's family ties include her husband Dave and her two children, Jadrix and Krenzley. In her spare time, Zumhingst is a triathlete and will compete in her first Ironman in August in Louisville, Kentucky. Besides the Jackson County Visitor Center Board, Zumhingst is a member of the Boys and Girls Club of Seymour board, the Seymour Multisport Club and the Jackson County Bicycle Club. She is active with 21st Century Scholars, where she teaches 8th grade students, and is a member of the Seymour First Church of the Nazarene. To Zumhingst, the importance of tourism in Jackson County is apparent, "What better way to bring dollars to the area than to make Jackson County a place to attend events, visit historical places and see what Jackson County has to offer." The Jackson County Visitor Center Board of Directors meets at noon on the first Wednesday of every month, at the Visitor Center offices, 100 North Broadway Street, Seymour.
