Voting Ends Sunday For CANSTRUCTION® "People's Choice" Award

Nine teams recently participated in the CANSTRURCTION® event at FairOaks Mall. The mission of the event is to build works of art and engineering bravado to help feed the hungry in Bartholomew County.

According to event organizers, local judges have already selected winners for "Judges' Choice," "Best Meal," "Best Use of Labels," and "Structural Ingenuity." Trophies will be awarded Sunday prior to the start of "de-CANstruction." Organizers say you are asked to choose the "People's Choice" winner by either making a donation in one of two ways - either by making a cash donation online at www.signmeup.com/90491 or by placing non-perishable food items in the voting bin next to your favorite sculpture. Viewing is open to the public, and voting is going on now through noon Sunday during regular mall hours, or online at the event's webpage at www.paragonme.net/columbuscan.

This year, online voting will help raise funds for the participating food banks. Every dollar donated will equal one vote. You may donate as much as they would like for their favorite sculpture.

The "People's Choice" award will be announced at the mall prior to the start of "de-CANstruction" Sunday.

Between nine teams, nearly 26,000 pounds of food were used in this year's sculptures. Your vote could easily push that number over 30,000 pounds to be donated to Love Chapel, Hope Community Center and Salvation Army food banks.
