Woman Arrested Following Police Pursuit In Jackson County

A Washington County woman was arrested recently on felony charges following a vehicle pursuit in Jackson County.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says around 7 p.m. Friday, a deputy tried to pulled 27-year-old Christy M. Clayton, of Campbellsburg, over as she was going west on U.S. 50 East. Clayton fled from the deputy going west on U.S. 50 and continued to North Base Road, then onto County Road 75 North. At this time, officers from the Brownstown Police Department joined in the pursuit. The deputy stopped his patrol car and just missed being hit by Clayton's vehicle. Her vehicle then pulled back onto County Road 75 North heading west.

The pursuit ended when Clayton lost control of her vehicle into a ditch. She left the vehicle and fled on foot into a field. Two more Jackson County deputies, who were also involved in the pursuit, caught Clayton.

Clayton is charged with resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, resisting law enforcement, criminal recklessness with a vehicle, OWI-Drugs, possession of stolen property, battery on a police officer and possession of a hypodermic needle.
