Woman Injured In North Vernon Crash

A woman was injured in a one-vehicle crash in front of the Jennings County Jail in North Vernon Monday.

North Vernon Police say December Miles, of North Vernon, was going south on South State Street, where the jail is located, around 10:30 a.m. when her vehicle ran off the right side of the road striking a utility pole. The pole snapped in two. The rear end of Miles' vehicle lifted off the ground and rotated to the south landing in the grassy area just off the roadway.

Power lines were knocked down during the accident. Traffic was also stopped in both directions for an hour until utility crews could move the live power lines.
