Two Injured In Three Vehicle Crash In ColumbusColumbus Police and Fire Department personnel responded to an auto accident with injuries Tuesday morning on Indianapolis Road at Arcadia Drive. Columbus Public Safety Spokesman Lt. Matt Myers says the Emergency Operations Center had received multiple calls around 8 a.m. about a three car accident with people injured. Upon officers arrival and investigation, it was determined that 27-year-old Tiffaney Luna, of Columbus, was northbound on Indianapolis Road in her SUV. She was attempting to pass another vehicle that was turning from the northbound lane of Indianapolis Road onto Arcadia Dr. when Luna, who was in the passing lane on the right side of the road, lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle she was driving slid sideways into the southbound lane of Indianapolis Road and struck a car driven by 52-year-old Sherry Rubush of Edinburgh. After Luna's SUV struck the car, it continued to slide and struck another southbound car driven by 41-year-old Katrina Palmer of Morgantown. Palmer told investigators that she tried to avoid the accident in front of her, but was unable to do so. Myers says firefighters had to use extraction equipment, specifically the jaws of life, to free Palmer from her vehicle. Both Palmer and Rubush had injuries at the scene and were transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for further treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The southbound lane of Indianapolis Road was rerouted for one hour while police investigated the accident. That investigation is ongoing. ImagesLast Updated: Wednesday, March 13, 2013 6:12:56 AM |
