Traffic Stop Leads to Guns and Drugs

A Texas man was arrested on drug and gun charges following a traffic stop Friday morning on I-65 in Jackson County.

Sgt. Noel Houze, with Indiana State Police in Versailles, says 60-year-old Warren C. Stevenson of San Antonio is charged with possession of cocaine with a firearm, possession of cocaine possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. He’s lodged in the Jackson County Jail.

Houze says around 9:25 a.m., Trooper Randel Miller was patrolling I-65 in Jackson County when he stopped a 2005 GMC U-Haul truck near the 48 mm for a traffic violation. During the course of the traffic stop, Tpr. Miller became suspicious of possible criminal activity and soon developed enough probable cause to search the vehicle. As result of the search, Tpr. Miller located marijuana, cocaine, pills, paraphernalia, scales, a handgun, an “Uzi” style gun with a 30 round magazine, and a pump action shotgun.

He was then charged and taken to jail.
