North Vernon Police Warn about Home Services Solicitation

Over the past couple of weeks the North Vernon Police Department has received numerous complaints from residents regarding a man that has been going around town and door to door soliciting various home services and odd jobs.

Officer Justin Black, with the North Vernon Police Department, says the majority of the complaints have been reported by elderly women. The man has been described as a white male in his 40s, standing 5' 9" to 5' 11" tall, weighing around 165 to 175 pounds, and also having a bald head. It has also been reported that he befriends elderly women and then takes advantage of them by the women giving him money out of sympathy.

Black says considering the complaints coming from elderly women, it is a good practice to keep tabs and keep in contact with elderly relatives and neighbors. In order for a person to solicit services within the city limits of North Vernon, they must receive a sales permit from the city clerk.
