Columbus Police have arrested three people in connection with the vandalism done to vehicles over the weekend on the city's north side.

Columbus Public Safety spokesman Lt. Matt Myers says 19-year-old William Seagraves, of Columbus, and two 15-year-old juveniles face preliminary charges of theft and mischief. Seagraves is lodged in the Bartholomew County Jail. The juveniles were taken to the Bartholomew County Youth Services Center.

Myers says through an interview, police were able to determine that the three were connected to the incidents that happened over the weekend.

Myers added that there were five more incidents Monday night where police believe the trio destroyed mailboxes and broke windows out of homes and vehicles.

He says the three are also connected to an incident on July 21 where some spray painting was done at a press box at Columbus North High School.

Myers credits a resident for calling police quickly to give them a description of the vehicle. Police were then able to find the three suspects, interview them and charge them with the crimes.

Myers says if anyone was affected by these acts and has done an original report, you should get estimates as to how much damage was done to your vehicle or home and call police so it can be added to your report.
