Police Urge Driver Safety as BCSC Students Return to School

School is back in session on Monday for students in the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation.

Columbus Public Safety spokesman Lt. Matt Myers is asking those who drive around schools to be cautious and look for pedestrian and bicycle traffic. He says police will also be keeping an eye on area school buses and the traffic around them. Myers says drivers need to plan ahead and allow themselves extra time to reach their destinations.

Columbus Police will be doing concentrated patrols around schools and along bus routes looking for violations. Myers stresses that the goal of these increased patrols is not to write additional tickets, but to help ensure the safety of area children and drivers. He says these increased patrols are scheduled to last for a couple of weeks.
