Victims in Fatal Crash Identified

One person died and another one was injured in a crash involving a car and a moped Thursday night in Bartholomew County.

Maj. Todd Noblitt, with the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office, says the crash happened just before 7 p.m. on County Roads 450 North and 425 East.

The investigation revealed that a vehicle driven by 54-year-old Lisa Long, of Hope, was traveling east on County Road 450 North when a moped, carrying two males, was traveling north on County Road 425 East. The moped failed to yield, resulting in a collision that threw both men from the bike. Noblitt says Long had no time to react and was unable to avoid the collision.

Investigators say 34-year-old Aaron Collins, of Columbus, was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The other man, who police have not been able to identify, was taken to Methodist Hospital. As of early Friday afternoon, his condition is described as "unstable." The moped the two men were on was reported stolen in August.

Long received minor injuries.

Investigators are asking for help in identifying the unknown man. Anyone who may have information on his identity is asked to contact the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department Tip Line at 812-379-1712.
