Tree City Fall Festival Draws Near

The 2013 Tree City Festival takes place in Greensburg on the final weekend in September.

Melanie Maxwell is a member of the planning committee. She says one of the festival's big draws each year is the parade.

Maxwell says that hasn't changed this year. She says that this year's parade, being called the "Herb Kohler Memorial Parade" is sponsored by Honda. Maxwell says the theme of the parade is "Hometown Heroes." With that in mind, she says the parade will also take time to honor the 2013 Class A IHSAA State Basketball Champions, the Greensburg Pirates. Maxwell adds that members of that squad will be taking part in the parade.

Maxwell went on to say that music is a big part of the festival. She says the music begins Friday with a performance by bluegrass band "Common Ground." Friday night's headline act is "The Bama Band," the longtime backing band for country star Hank Williams, Jr. Music continues Saturday afternoon with a performance by "Rampage," a band based in Decatur County.
