Nearly three out of four students passed this year‘s ISTEP exam, with 74 percent of students passing both the English and math portions.
Here are the school corporation totals for those passing both Math and English/Language Arts:
BCSC: 71.0 percent - 2013 73.7 percent - 2012
Flat Rock-Hawcreek: 65.9 percent - 2013 61.7 percent - 2012
Medora: 48.4 percent - 2013 53.8 percent - 2012
Seymour: 66 percent - 2013 65.2 percent - 2012
Brownstown: 72 percent - 2013 73.2 percent - 2012

Brownstown Central Middle School:
Percentage passing English/Language Arts - 75.7

Crothersville: 69.1 percent - 2013 69.1 percent - 2012
Jennings County Schools showed significant improvement on ISTEP this year.
School superintendent Dr. Terry Sargent says as an entire corporation, Jennings County students passing both the mathematics and language arts sections of ISTEP came in at 76.8 percent this year. He says last year the district was at 69.7 percent. This indicates a 7.1 percent improvement in scores in just one year. Sargent says all of the district's schools did very well, but the three schools showing the most significant improvement from 2012 to 2013 were Sand Creek Elementary up 9.1 percent, Jennings County Middle School up 11.1 percent, and Scipio Elementary up 12.3 percent. Coming in with honorable mention honors was Brush Creek Elementary up 4.7 percent.
