'Walk to End Alzheimer's' Is Sunday at Mill Race Center

Hundreds of Columbus residents are expected to turn out for Sunday's Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer event happening at Mill Race Center. It starts at 1 p.m.

Leah Shattuck is the communication director for the Alzheimer's Association Greater Indiana Chapter. Shattuck says teams are formed and they raise money through various types of fundraisers to go toward Alzheimer's care, support and research. Last year's event brought in more than $78,000 and Shattuck says they would love to meet that or bring in more this year. The goal statewide for this year is $1.4 million.

You still have time to enter a team in this year's walk and you can even do this the day of the event. Shattuck adds that it's best to form your team early so you can meet some fundraising and incentive goals. She says if you raise $100, you will get a purple t-shirt to wear with the other walkers and it continues from there with different incentives.

Registration begins at noon with the opening ceremony starting a 1 p.m. The walk itself starts at 1:30 p.m.
