Columbus Police arrested a Jackson County man after seizing over $30,000 in cash and roughly two pounds of crystal meth, with a street value of $90,000, during a traffic stop just before 8 p.m. Monday.

Columbus Public Safety spokesman Lt. Matt Myers says police noticed a vehicle, driven by 32-year-old Kenneth M. Reed of Brownstown, ignore a stop light at Second and California streets. Reed was pulled over for the violation, and during the traffic stop, could not provide a driver's license.

Police believed Reed was giving them false information regarding his true identity. After further investigation, it was determined that Reed had given officers false information regarding his real name.

As the investigation continued, Myers says it was also determined that Reed was driving on a suspended driver's license. Officers arrested Reed for the suspended driver's license and false informing.

Prior to Reed's arrests, his vehicle was searched. That's when the crystal meth and cash was found. Both items were seized as evidence.

Reed was also booked into the Bartholomew County jail on additional preliminary charges of possession of meth with intent to deliver and possession of marijuana, which was found in the vehicle Reed was driving.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
