Owsley Won't Hire Pathologist for Late Husband's Autopsy

The widow of shooting victim Cary Owsley, Lisa Owsley, has told a Bartholomew Circuit judge that she won’t hire a forensic pathologist to join two other specialists who will examine the body of her late husband later this year.

Our news gathering partners at "The Republic" report Cheryl Jackson, the dead man’s sister, and the Circuit Court each has named a pathologist to take part in a private autopsy to review an initial ruling of suicide in the April 7 shooting death of Owsley.

Circuit Judge Stephen Heimann issued a ruling Friday confirming that Jackson and her attorneys have hired Dr. Werner Spitz of St. Clair Shores, MI, to take part in the autopsy. The court has picked Dr. Scott Wagner, a forensic pathologist from Fort Wayne, as its expert.
