The lone suspect charged with killing four people in Waynesville in May is set to meet with his court-appointed attorney for the first time today in preparation for a June 24 trial date.

Our news gathering partners at "The Republic" report 56-year-old Samuel E. Sallee made his first appearance via video conference in Bartholomew Circuit Court Tuesday in connection with the quadruple murder charges. He is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail without bond.

Sallee is facing four counts of murder for the May 11 slayings. He is accused of shooting and killing 53-year-old Katherine Burton, 39-year-old Thomas W. Smith, 41-year-old Aaron T. Cross and 41-year-old Shawn L. Burton, all of Columbus. Katherine Burton also sustained several stab wounds. The bodies were found that night by Katherine Burton's son. Authorities indicated the killings may have been drug-related.
