Two Injured after Struck by Car

Three people were injured when a car struck pedestrians Wednesday morning in Franklin.

Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox says that two men were working on a fence on the corner of Mauxferry Road and U.S. 31 when a vehicle, driven by 50-year-old Rick Wilson, struck them. According to witnesses, Wilson's vehicle was speeding on U.S. 31 South when he tried to turn on to Mauxferry Road. Due to the vehicle's speed, it went off the road and up the embankment, striking both men. Wilson told investigators that he did not remember the crash or what caused it.

The driver and the two victims were taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital. Forty-three-year-old Gregory Trump, of Noblesville, complained of abdominal pain. Forty-nine-year-old Jason Witt, of Greenwood, suffered pain to his knee, left leg and foot. Wilson had complaints of back pain. He also had blood drawn at the hospital for a drug and alcohol screening. Those results are expected to reach authorities in the coming days.
