State Trooper Injured in Edinburgh Crash

An Indiana State Police trooper was injured Sunday afternoon after his car was struck by another vehicle while he was assisting at the site of a truck crash on Interstate 65 near Edinburgh.

According to the state police, Sgt. Brian Wilson was working at the site of a semi-trailer crash at about 3:45 p.m. Sunday. Master Trooper Jason Duncan arrived to assist Wilson and blocked the right lane with his patrol car because of debris in the roadway. Duncan's patrol car was then hit by another driver 19 year old Karson Tays of Columbus.

Duncan, an 18-year veteran of the department and also a Columbus resident, was treated at Columbus Regional Hospital for cuts and bruises.

Tays was uninjured.

No charges have been filed at this time and the crash remains under investigation, said Indiana State Police spokesman, Sgt. Noel Houze.
