Two Vehicle Crash on I-65

Five college students escaped serious injury after a crash on I-65 Sunday morning.

The crash took place near the 71 mile marker in the northbound lanes shortly after 7 a.m. when a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Elise Morin, of Noblesville, struck a car driven by 44-year-old Jeffrey Liddick, of Gas City. Morin's vehicle began to slide before flipping three times. One of the passengers in Morrin's vehicle was trapped by her seatbelt. She was eventually cut free by first responders.

All five were taken to Columbus Regional Hospital with minor injuries. 19-year-old Cameron Melchoir, of Evansville, suffered a broken wrist.

Noblitt says everyone involved in this crash was wearing their seatbelt. He said that it is clear that seat belts saved lives, or at least reduced injuries in this crash.
