SR 3 work begins Monday in North Vernon

Work begins Monday on the Indiana Department of Transportation's $3 million State Road 3 District Pavement Project at North Vernon. Harry Maginity, INDOT spokesman, says paving crews from Dave O'Mara Contractors will begin placing asphalt for a temporary lane on the east side of the S.R. 3 / State Street roadway. Later, two-way traffic will be shifted to allow reconstruction along the west side of the route.

Maginity says that flaggers will be on-site to direct motorists around work sites as needed. He says that drivers should anticipate minor delays throughout the week and 10-foot wide load limits are being enforced.

This State Road 3 / State Street auxiliary lane project extends nearly one mile from Smith Street to U.S. Highway 50. Maginity says it includes widening and reconstructing the north-south highway, installing sanitary and storm sewer lines and building sidewalks with ADA-complaint curb ramps.
