Columbus police are searching for a suspect in an attempted bank robbery this morning on 25th Street.

Columbus Police Chief Jason Maddix says that a man entered the PNC Bank at 25th Street and Central Avenue at around 10:41 a.m. this morning. The man displayed a note asking for money but fled the scene southbound without taking any cash.

Maddix described the suspect as a white male with a dark complexion, between 6-2 and 6-3 in height, 230 pounds, wearing a tan or khaki jacket and a matching fishing hat or floppy-style hat. Police are unsure whether he fled on foot or whether he got into a car, Maddix said.

Maddix said officers are still on the scene as of 11:30 a.m., and he hopes to have a photo of the suspect soon.

Anyone with any information can contact the police department at 376-2600.
