BCSC to hold off on lunch price increases

Bartholomew Consolidated schools will hold the line on school lunch costs this fall. The school board voted last night to keep the prices the same next school year, despite increasing prices on food caused by drought, high gas prices and other adverse conditions. Dr. John Quick, the school district superintendent, says that the lunch programs at all BCSC schools are operating in the black. "We have had great management and good participation," QUick said. "We run the biggest restaurant in town. We bid everything, as you can see, from green beans to milk to you-name-it. Folks can compete in that and and that helps us to keep the prices down for our families." Student lunches cost $2.35 a day for elementary students and $2.45 a day for secondary students, according to the BCSC web site. http://www.bcsc.k12.in.us/Page/13542
