Mayor swears in two new police officers

Columbus Mayor Kristen Brown swore in two new members of the Columbus Police Department this morning at the Board of Public Works and Safety.
  • Justin Black of North Vernon is a 2000 graduate of Jennings County High School and a 2012 graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.  He most recently worked as a patrol officer for the North Vernon Police Department, where he worked as public information officer and helped recreate the department's website.
  • Kelly Hibbs of South Bend is a 1998 graduate of Clay High School in South Bend.  Hibbs is a Sergeant First Class in the United States Army Reserve and deployed to Iraq twice during his enlistment.  In 2007, Hibbs was hired as a police officer with the South Bend Police Department.
