New sculpture installed at Bartholomew County library

Bartholomew County Public Library officials report that installation of a new sculpture on the library plaza was completed yesterday

Lighting and landscaping around Martin Beach's 8,000 pound "Modern Totem" granite sculpture will be added later this week. A dedication ceremony will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, followed by dedication of the renovated library plaza and a concert by hip-hop violinists Black Violin at 7 p.m.

Black Violin will be joined onstage by members of the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic strings section and members of the Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.  The event is free.

Because of the concert, Fifth Street between Franklin and Pearl streets and Lafayette Avenue between Fourth and Fifth Streets will be closed to traffic starting at 3 p.m. Friday. The streets will reopen at roughly 10 p.m.
