Victim expected to recover in downtown shooting

The victim in last week's shooting near Ninth Street Park in Columbus is expected to recover from his injuries. 20-year-old Ericxon Rosado, was shot in his neck on June 16th while in the back of a vehicle outside of a home in the 1200 block of Eighth Street.

Lt. Matt Myers, spokesman for the Columbus Police Department said that Rosado is expected to recover.

"We believe that the victim in the shooting will be OK," Myers said. "Obviously (he is) very fortunate that we aren't dealing with something worse, he is fortunate... We hope that he is back on his feet soon."

Our news gathering partners at "The Republic" report that 26-year-old Jimmie DeWayne Hair, Jr., of  California St., was formally charged Tuesday in Bartholomew Superior Court 1 in the shooting. Hair was charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.

The Republic reports that Judge James Worton set bond at $500,000 and appointed public defender Aaron Edwards to represent Hair. For more on this story, pick up today's edition of "The Republic."
