The pilot of a private plane was killed and a passenger was injured Friday when the plane crashed into two homes near the Greenwood airport.

WRTV Channel 6 is reporting that the plane went down after losing power shortly after take-off. The station says the plane came down just north of Main Street, striking one home and skidding into the back yard of another home before striking it and catching on fire.

The passenger was taken to Methodist Hospital with serious injuries.

The identities of the victims weren't immediately released.
