Bridge work to close State Road 11 in Jackson County

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plans to close State Road 11 for two upcoming weekends. INDOT Spokesman Harry Maginity says the closures will take place from the interchange with Interstate 65 at the Jonesville exit in northern Jackson County to the White River bridge north of Seymour. He says the state is repairing and overlaying bridge decks at four structures along the route.

The first closure is set for the weekend of July 18-20. Maginity says this closure begins at 8 a.m. Friday with plans to reopen by 6 p.m. Sunday.

The following weekend (July 25-27), State Road 11's closure will begin at 1 p.m. Friday and continue through 6 p.m. Sunday while overlay applications are being made for all four bridge decks. Inclement weather could push this operation back to a later date.

Crews are set to place a polymeric overlay on bridge decks at four structures along State Road 11. They are:

·    the 2-span 200-foot bridge over the East Fork of White River located 1.95 miles south of I-65
·    the 4-span 202-foot I-Beam bridge over a White River overflow at .48 miles south of I-65
·    the 6-span 400-foot I-Beam bridge over a White River overflow at .98 miles south of I-65
·    the 7-span 467-foot I-Beam bridge over a White River overflow at 1.49 miles south of I-65

Motorists are advised to detour around the bridge closures via I-65 and U.S. Highway 50.
