CRH recognized for heart attack treatment progress

Columbus Regional Hospital has been recognized by the American Heart Association with the Mission: Lifeline Silver Plus Quality Achievement Award.

Hospital spokeswoman Kelsey DeClue says the award recognizes quality improvement processes in the treatment of those suffering severe heart attacks. The goal is to streamline systems to quickly get heart attack patients from the first 9-1-1 call to hospital treatment.

To be recognized with the Silver Plus designation, the hospital had to meet standards of care showing appropriate and timely treatment of the blocked artery, and aggressive risk-reduction therapies such as cholesterol-lowing medication and smoking cessation counseling.
