Two arrested after North Vernon chase

North Vernon police arrested two women Saturday who allegedly shoplifted just over $450 worth of cellphones and accessories from the town's Walmart, and then fled from police in a car.

Police say the car crashed into a ditch on JFK Drive after a short chase. Both suspects attempted to flee through a field however were caught by officers at the scene.

Police reported that two smart phones were recovered and several accessories including two wireless speakers.

29-year-old Holly L. Kramer of North Vernon and 23-year-old Breanna N. Russell of Columbus, have been arrested on charges of resisting law enforcement by fleeing, a Level 6 felony, and theft, a Class A misdemeanor.
