North Vernon man arrested after ATV crash

A North Vernon man was arrested Sunday after getting into a crash on his ATV while allegedly fleeing from police.

Officers were originally responding to a report of a naked man driving an ATV at 8:18 a.m. in the area of Oak Meadow Drive and Edgewood Avenue. According to police reports, officers found tracks in the grass and tracked them to the area of Johnson Street.

Although they located the driver, who appeared to be clothed, three times, he fled from police on the four-wheeler before getting involved in an accident on Hayden Pike and leaving the scene.

Officers located 53-year-old Vyran L. Phillips in a parking lot. He was arrested on preliminary charges of leaving the scene of an accident and resisting law enforcement by fleeing.
