Kentucky man arrested twice in Columbus

A Kentucky man was arrested twice over two days last week on theft charges in Columbus.

Sgt. Matt Harris, spokesman for the Columbus Police Department, said that 32-year-old Brian K. Jones of Corbin, Kentucky and 33-year-old Christy J. Vanderpool of Williamsburg, Kentucky were arrested Friday morning on charges relating to a theft out of Washington County.

But shortly after Jones was released Saturday, Columbus police were called on a report of someone breaking into the former Sears auto parts store on Brown Street. Witnesses provided a description of the suspect and a person matching that description was picked up a few blocks away, on Second Street near the Cole Apartments.

Jones was arrested again on a charge of theft and criminal mischief, Harris said.
