Columbus man arrested on theft and drug charges

A Columbus man was arrested on theft and drug charges after allegedly stealing a battery from a parked car.

Columbus Police spokesman Sgt. Matt Harris says that at 8:50 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to a parking lot in the 2300 block of 25th Street in regards to theft of car parts. A witnesses reported seeing two men remove a car battery from a vehicle and walk towards Central Avenue.

Officers located a person matching the description of one of the suspects, carrying a car battery. He was identified as 34-year-old Timothy K. Meadows.  After confirming the car battery was stolen, Meadows was taken into custody. While searching Meadow's pockets, officers allegedly located a small amount of methamphetamine.

Meadows was booked in the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of theft and possession of methamphetamine.
