The city of Columbus held a public safety fun day from Monday afternoon at Donner Park.

Residents were able to see public safety demonstrations from representatives of the Columbus Police SWAT team, bomb squad and police dogs. There were vehicles on display, including "Tilly," the miniature fire engine, who was also on hand to provide rides for kids and adults. The fire department also had it's “Survive Alive” safety trailer, which helps kids familiarize themselves with a house fire environment.

Mayor Kristen Brown, Fire Chief Dave Allmon and Police Chief Jon Rohde were all on hand to talk to residents about public safety and other issues. Mayor Brown says that events like these serve an important function in showing children that police and fire personnel are their friends in an emergency.
