Arrest made after man struck by vehicle

A Columbus man was arrested Friday night on felony charges after allegedly striking another man with his vehicle.

Sgt. Matt Harris, spokesman for the Columbus Police Department, said that officers were called to the 2100 block of Ohio Street at about 7:40 p.m. Friday on a report of a 42-year-old man who had broken feet after an encounter with a car. The victim said he had been arguing with 51-year-old Steven Cowan, when Cowan tried to leave in a vehicle. The victim said that Cowan has a medical condition and it is dangerous for him to drive, so the victim stood in front of the car and was then struck.

Cowan was arrested on preliminary charges of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon/aggressive driving, a Level 6 felony and failure to stop after an accident resulting in serious bodily injury, a Level 5 felony.

The victim was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment.
