The Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce held its Venture Awards last night at the Factory 12 Event Loft to honor local entrepreneurs.

CyberMetrix received the innovation award and H-K Auto/Truck Service received the Emerging Business honor. Data Cave was chosen as the entrepreneur of the year and retired White River Broadcasting marketer Gordon Lake received the small business advocate award for his community efforts.

Keynote speaker Dr. John Wall, vice president and CTO at Cummins, told the gathering that successful businesses have to see the future and beat the competition to it.

Cindy Frey, the chamber president, said there are 25 hundred small businesses calling Bartholomew County home.
