Traffic stop leads to recovery of stolen truck

Columbus police arrested two men and recovered a truck stolen from Brown County earlier this week.

Sgt. Matt Harris, spokesman for the police department, says that Officer Troy Love noticed a truck which quickly changed directions when the driver saw the police car approach on Monday. Love checked the truck's license plate and found that it had been stolen from Brown County.

After a traffic stop, the driver, 36-year-old Eric D. Caldwell and a passenger, 49-year-old Chester D. Sidwell, both from Columbus, were arrested. Caldwell is facing charges of auto theft and driving with a suspended license. Sidwell was arrested on a charge of trespassing or unlawful entry of a vehicle.
